BIRD PHOTOGRAPHY TOURS in Spain with Ebro Delta Birding

• Day One (arrival). We will collect you from Barcelona International Airport and provide a private transfer to our birders Guest House at the Ebro Delta. Remainder of the day at your leisure.
• Day Two (morning). We begin the tour in style with a car based photography session for European Bee-eaters at a nearby disused sand quarry. From a respectful distance, we will photograph Bee-eaters as they come and go from perches close to their breeding tunnels. We may be lucky enough to see courtship behaviour including food passes and perhaps even breeding sequences. We can expect to see them with a variety of different prey!
• Day Two (evening). Heading out late afternoon in improving light conditions we will enjoy a car safari in the Ebro Delta. Target species will be: Collared Pratincole, Glossy Ibis, Black-winged Stilts, Penduline Tit, Greater Flamingo, Purple Swamphen & many others. These birds will be photographed using the tour vehicle as a mobile blind. We will also pay a visit to the Riet Vell observatory which offers close photography opportunities for various subjects.
• Day Three (morning). We will embark on a bird photography boat trip heading up the river from Deltebre with the morning sunlight at our back. Our destination will be the bird rich Illa de Gracia which is a stronghold for Little Bittern, Purple Heron, Squacco Heron, Penduline Tit and Black Kite. Moving further upstream to the smaller Illa de Sapinya, we can expect to photograph Black-crowned Night Heron, Osprey, Great Reed Warbler, Turtle Dove and maybe even Golden Oriole!
• Day Three (afternoon). Having departed from the Ebro Delta following lunch, we will drive to Lleida (90 mins) and check in to the Ibis Hotel. By early evening we will venture out a short distance into the Lleida steppe land and try some known hotspots for Hoopoe, Little Bustard, European Roller and Lesser Kestrel. We could be lucky with birds like Montagu's Harrier, Short-toed Eagle & Pin-tailed Sandgrouse out in the dry plains.
• Day Four (morning). We will be doing a car based long morning session in the northern Monegros canyons, a true raptor hotspot particularly for Golden Eagle & Short-toed Snake Eagle. This productive zone also has some very photogenic passerines, such as Black-eared Wheatear, Spectacled, Dartford & Sardinian Warblers. Bee-eaters are also abundant in this zone, and with luck we could get chances with Great Spotted Cuckoo and perhaps even Eurasian Eagle-Owl. In the afternoon we will transfer to Solsona and check in at our accommodation within the old citadel of this historic town.
• Day five (full day) - Hide photography, full day session north of Lleida for Lammergeier (Bearded Vulture), Egyptian Vulture, Red Fox & Griffon Vultures. We will arrange a high quality private photo hide experience for the kings of the mountains. We have a very good possibility to photograph the Lammergeier feeding on the ground! On conclusion, we will transfer to Tremp and check in at our accommodation, Hotel La Canonja in the heart of the town.
• Day six (morning) - A second half day session in a different photo hide further north in the Pyrenees, where we can expect to photograph Eurasian Black Vulture, Egyptian Vulture & multiple Griffons.

On conclusion of the final session, we will return you to Barcelona for return flights (late afternoon / evening), or over night accommodation if you intend to travel home the day following.
